Apron taxi lines and numbered stands

Yellow guidance lines, red stand boxes and numbered stands show where to taxi and where to park.

The whole apron from above: seven terminal stands in one row, five drive-through stands in another, and the dark lane between them.

The apron now has painted markings that show where to taxi and where to park, and every stand has a number.

What is new

  • Yellow taxi guidance lines run along taxiway A, down the east link and along the dark apron lane. Every corner is drawn with the same curve the taxiing aircraft follow.
  • Stands 1 to 7 are the terminal stands. Aircraft park nose-in toward the terminal, with a yellow lead-in line and a stop bar at the nose wheel.
  • Stands 11 to 15 are drive-through stands on the runway side of the lane. Aircraft come in from the lane and leave straight out to the taxiway.
  • Each stand has a red safety box and a yellow number on a dark plate, turned so a pilot can read it while taxiing in.
  • The service road behind the aircraft has white edge lines and a dashed centre line.
  • Each end of taxiway A has curved lead-on lines to the runway and a holding position of two solid and two dashed yellow lines.

At night the markings are dimmed but still easy to follow.

Traffic uses the lines

  • Arriving aircraft vacate the runway, taxi west along taxiway A, take the east link and the lane, and stop on a stand.
  • Departing aircraft leave their stand along its line, join taxiway A and taxi to the runway end.
  • Taxiway A is now paved to both runway ends, and the grass between the apron and the taxiway is paved over.
  • The stand numbers are the sim's own. They are not copied from a chart of the real airport.

What did not change

  • The autopilot still lands in every weather preset, and flying with no input still ends in a crash.
