The car park moves to the runway end, with the airport hotel and its footbridge
The car park now stands where the aerial photos show it, and the airport hotel stands across Prince Edward Road East, joined by its cable-stayed footbridge.
The car park has moved again, this time to match the 1990s aerial photos. It now stands on the runway half of the terminal frontage, between the terminal and Prince Edward Road East. The tank farm and the terminal block are at the far end. Across the road is the airport hotel, joined to the car park by its footbridge.
The hotel footbridge
The airport hotel opened in 1982 on the far side of Prince Edward Road East. A covered, air-conditioned footbridge with a travelator carried guests over the road to the car park building, and through it to the terminal. The bridge hung from a single column in the middle of the road, with two cable stays to each side. In the sim the hotel has a generic name and a red rooftop sign.
A closer view from the roof
The spotters' end of the roof is now near the runway end of the terminal, beside the control tower. From the Car park roof view, arrivals touch down in front of you, with the tower to one side and Hong Kong Island across the harbour.
