13 more parking bays from the Kai Tak plan
Stands 21 to 26 between lanes D3 and D2, a new east apron with stands 51 to 57, and the south apron parked nose-in.
We checked the sim's apron against Technocratic Aviation's unofficial Kai Tak plan and added the parking bays it was missing: 13 new stands in two places, and the south apron now parks the way the plan shows it. Kai Tak was always close to full in 1998, so more bays means a busier, more believable apron.
Stands 21 to 26
The plan shows a second row of stands between lane D3 (the pier stands) and lane D2. That row was empty concrete in the sim. It now has six stands, 21 to 26, each with a red stand box, a yellow lead-in from lane D2, a nose-wheel stop bar and a numbered plate. Aircraft park nose toward the terminal, tail to lane D2. Four hold a parked airliner and two are empty.
The east apron: stands 51 to 57
On the plan the apron carries on past the maintenance hangars, out to the airport's east boundary road. The sim stopped at the hangars. The new east apron fills that gap with seven stands, 51 to 57, lined up along the boundary, nose-in toward it, with a taxi lane behind the tails. Five hold a parked aircraft (a mix of passenger jets and freighters) and two are empty.
The modern buildings that stood on that ground, and on the hangar strip, are gone, as they would have been in 1998. The interline building moved to the north-east end of the cargo terminal, where the plan shows a small building, so the new taxi lane is clear.
South apron: nose-in
The plan draws the south apron stands, 71 to 81, with the nose toward the far edge and the tail to the taxiway. The sim had them the other way round. They are now nose-in, with longer lead-in lines from taxiway B4 and the numbers at the entrance.
What did not change
- The pier stands 1 to 8, remote stands 11 to 19 and cargo stands 41 to 46 keep their numbers and positions, so the turnarounds, pushbacks and apron buses run as before.
- The new stands hold parked aircraft only. No traffic taxis to them yet.
- The autopilot still lands in every weather preset, flying with no input still crashes, and the ground traffic never touches the parked aircraft.
Stand numbers
The stand numbers beyond 8 are the sim's own, not Kai Tak's real ones.

Tall red floodlight masts now stand between the stands across the Kai Tak apron, as in 1998 photos, with lamps and obstruction lights at night.
