Maintenance area: hangars and tank farm

The maintenance area is rebuilt from the chart and photos: three hangars with lit bays, a workshop tower, a fenced aircraft compound and a tank farm.

The maintenance area is now built as a proper complex on the north-west edge of the airport, beyond the passenger terminal and running toward the cargo side, where the Kai Tak chart and the Sports Park site map put it.

The hangars

Three hangars stand along the back of the maintenance apron: a small one nearest the terminal, a big pale one with a skylight-striped roof and two lit bays, and a dark one with two lit bays and a roof of skylight squares. A ribbed workshop tower with lit windows sits between the first two, and each hangar has an arrow sign (an invented one, not a real company logo). Two aircraft are nosing out of the bays.

The apron around them

  • A fenced compound with a stripped-down 747 and yellow stands and loaders
  • A red and white striped blast fence behind the last terminal stand
  • A low interline-connections building with roof plant and a loading canopy
  • Floodlight masts across the maintenance apron
  • A fuel tank farm behind the main terminal block

At night

The hangar bays glow warm, the workshop windows light up and the floodlights come on with the rest of the airport.

All the new buildings are solid for the traffic, and the autopilot still lands in every weather preset.

維修區而家整成一組完整嘅建築，喺機場西北邊、客運大樓後面，一路伸向貨運嗰邊，就係啟德圖表同運動公園地圖標示嘅位置。

機庫

維修停機坪後面有三個機庫：最近客運大樓嘅係細嗰個，旁邊係一個大嘅淺色機庫，天台有天窗條紋同兩個亮燈機庫門，仲有一個深色機庫，兩個亮燈機庫門，天台係一格格天窗。頭兩個機庫中間有座有肋紋、窗仔亮燈嘅工場塔，每個機庫都有箭嘴招牌（係自創嘅，唔係真公司商標）。有兩架飛機機頭伸出機庫門。

所有新建築對交通嚟講都係實心嘅，自動駕駛喺每種天氣下仍然可以降落。

Maintenance area moved to the chart position

The Kai Tak maintenance area is repositioned to match the 1996 parking chart and airport plan: hangars, workshop tower, compound and offices turned to the chart angle.
