Remote stands and apron buses
Aircraft now park on the remote stands without jet bridges, and apron buses carry the passengers.
Kai Tak had more aircraft than jet bridges. Remote stands 11 to 19 on apron lane D2 now hold parked aircraft, and apron buses carry the passengers between them and the terminal.
What is new
- Five aircraft park nose-in on remote stands with no jet bridge, tail toward lane D2. The stop bars on the stands are repainted to match.
- A bus gate at the root of the pier, with a canopy over the loading lane and a bilingual sign.
- Five apron buses, one per aircraft. Each drives out along the service road, in front of the noses, down beside its aircraft to the forward left door, waits while passengers get off and on, then drives back to the gate.
- Buses only run when no jet bridge is free. All eight contact stands are taken (six turnarounds and two parked aircraft), so the overflow goes to the remote stands.
What did not change
- The buses run on the sim clock, so rewind and fast-forward still work.
- The autopilot still lands in every weather preset, and flying with no input still ends in a crash.
