South apron, helipads and inlet taxiways
Stands 71 to 81, two helipads, taxiway bridges over the water inlet, fuel tanks by the terminal and bitumen at the hangars.
Kai Tak's south side is built: the south apron with stands 71 to 81, two helipads, taxiways that cross the water inlet on concrete bridge decks, fuel tanks beside the terminal, and bitumen on the maintenance apron.
South apron and helipads
- Stands 71 to 81 along taxiway B4, with red stand boxes, number plates and a lead-in line to each stop bar
- Aircraft parked nose to the taxiway on most stands
- Two helipads with a white H, and a flight services building beside them
Taxiways over the water
The inlet that runs beside the runway is crossed by two link taxiways, A7 and A9 on the 1996 chart, each on a concrete deck with low parapets and piers into the water. Aircraft can taxi on the decks and the apron.
Fuel tanks and maintenance apron
The nine fuel tanks now stand between the passenger terminal and the maintenance hangars, as in the model and aerial photos. The flight apron round the hangars, bays and stripped aircraft is dark bitumen with a yellow edge line.
